Retail Marketing

This course is designed to prepare and train students for entry-level employment in the retail and retail management field.  Students will learn sales and display techniques, operation of cash register, customer relations, entrepreneurship and retail management skills. 

Cooperative Vocational Education students (CVE) are required to enter the program with a LACOROP counselor/ instructor approved retail josite at the time of enrollment.

Community Classroom (CC) Students intern the last 12 weeks of each semester in a unpaid intership provided by the Instructor. 

COURSE PREREQUISITES: 11th & 12th Grade, CVE students must have a ROP approved retail jobsite with a valid work permit.

Weekly Class Meetings

Every week you will attend a 2.5 hour class at your school site. During this class time you will complete lessons and activities related to job skills and career essentials. You will also fill out required weekly LACOROP time sheets.

Every week you will report your work hours as part of the attendance process. Only students that are present in class can report their work hours for that week. If you have a verified excused absence, your hours will also be counted if submitted online the day of the absence..

OJT Visitation and Evaluation

The instructor will visit your jobsite regularly to check on your progress, assisting with your individual job skills training plan and observing work performance.
